Homework Policy

Dear parents:

Homework will be assigned Monday-Thursday. Each day your child will write down his or her assignments on an assignment calendar.  I will check at the end of each day to see that they have all the materials needed to complete the homework.  After they leave the classroom it is out of my hands and it becomes your child’s responsibility.  Homework is collected the following day and must be signed by a parent or guardian. Homework not turned in will result in a “0”, and can make the difference between an “A” and a “B”.  Reading logs are part of homework and your child will receive a “0” if it is not done.  If your child stays after school for a club, they will be given time in school to begin their homework.  This does not mean that it will be finished when they get home.  It is the parent’s responsibility to make sure that all homework is completed when they get home from school. If your child is absent their homework will be due the day following your child’s return to school.  I allow 1 day for each day of absence to complete work.  All homework is to be completed in pencil only.  If your child is having difficulty and you and I have not already discussed it, please call me or send me a note.  You may help your child with their homework, but do not do it for them.  Homework is meant to reinforce skills learned in class, which the children will be tested on.  Please remember that now is a wonderful time to start instilling good study habits in your child.
Miss. Honig
